The human problem
A thought can disappear before you reach somewhere to write it down. The fragments you do save can be just as hard to find again.
The thesis
Make capture quick enough for the moment, then let the day become something you can read back.
Where it actually stands
- Capture by text or speech on iPhone, or speak, scribble, or type on Apple Watch.
- Watch captures queue offline and sync when your iPhone reconnects. Your words stay separate from the app's interpretation.
- The app has no account, analytics, or server. The journal stays on your devices and can be exported from Settings.
Decisions and tradeoffs
Preserve the original words.
The app's reading of a day belongs beside the captures, without replacing them.
Keep the journal on device.
Private memories should not need an account or a server to be useful.
What building it taught me
Fast capture only helps when you can return to what you kept. Both ends of that path matter.
What isn't true yet
- No cloud account or server recovery of a journal.
- The journal is excluded from backups; save your own copy from Settings.
